April 27, 2006.....

Just in case anyone thinks I am not staying busy, here are a few pictures of THIS WEEKS projects. The new ham radio amplifier has arrived, but that meant the pilot house got taken apart to run additional cables up to the mast. On last weeks cruise, part of the Kobelt controller in the pilot house failed, so that required getting parts, taking the control head apart, installing the new parts, testing and calibration, etc. This was also the week that the new header tank, complete with sight gauge for the hot water boiler got installed. I was really motivated on that project, no hot water or heat till the job was completed.

Only a few more "known" projects to go, until we head north on May 10th, but being a boat, I would guess there are still a few things to do that are not yet on the list.

For the first time in almost three months we went cruising today. The occasion was the first cruise of the season for the San Juan Island Yacht Club, which we just became members of.

We left Roche Harbor, Washington at noon, cleared customs at Bedwell Harbor, British Columbia and then continued on to our destination of Ganges, British Columbia.

It was a beautiful day, perfect for the first nights dock party!

OK so the boat has lots of antennas already, but you can never have too many. So today I installed a new ham radio antenna. It is the small one on the right.

Dave and Lenni took advantage of some really nice spring weather by taking Squirt out for the first ride of the season. Afterwards Lenni played with her ball on the dock and watched Dave change the oil in the Honda outboard.

We are back at the boat and the work continues....

Yesterday's project was to replace the inflatable tube on our tender. The old one had served us well, but with fishing, crabbing, and exploring, it had suffered a few injuries over the last three years.

It was a beautiful day, perfect for an outside project!
