Somebody always.....

Somebody always has a bigger boat! In this case she is named "Apoise" and according to the Sitka harbormaster is the largest yacht to ever call at Sitka. Research indicates that she is the 59th largest yacht in the world.

We arrived in Sitka today - almost five weeks after leaving Roche Harbor. The scenery here is spectacular - Baranof Island is by far our favorite spot in all of SE Alaska. The mountains are still covered in snow and on this beautiful, clear day, Mt. Edgecumbe, the dormant volcano at the entrance to Sitka Sound, is amazing in its splendor.

Waiting for a Swim

Waiting for a Swim June 09, 2007 Lenni's favorite activity in life is swimming - followed closely by riding in the tender. Here she is at anchor waiting patiently for a chance to do both. What a love muffin she is!

Second King

Second King
June 8, 2007

Day two of fishing and we have our second king. We think this one is a boat record. Of all the kings we've previously caught and kept a record of, this one is the largest. 39 inches and 26 lbs. And the great part is that we caught him within five minutes of the start of our morning fishing. Not bad!

First Fish!

First Fish!

We managed to land our first king salmon of the year in Whale Bay. We had a fishing contest going with Wilhelmina for the biggest boat fish of the day, and we won by default (which means they didn't catch one!). We all enjoyed him for dinner with enough left over in the freezer for several more meals.

Alaskasexual

Perhaps you have heard the term "Metrosexual" to describe a very stylish, suave man. Captain Dave used to be one with his custom tailored suits and designer wear. These days we refer to him as "Alaskasexual" as his favorite designer line is Carhart! Here he is at his Alaskasexual best - geared up for a morning of fishing. The fishing was okay - not great - but the scenery was spectacular.
